More and more, products are slipping through the cracks in terms of inspection and consumer safety. A fully integrated solution with all members of the supply chain is desperately needed. It is important for the authorities (in this case, the FDA) to be part of this network as well.

The modern world requires a higher level of security and transparency. Following pharma, the food industry is now also eyeing adoption of serialization. Authorities should leverage serialization to ensure that inspections are recorded on a more granular level, ultimately increasing the transparency to consumers that the product they are buying is, in fact, part of the batch that was inspected.
